FAQ - This is what Maybeen is asked most often
Of course, you're welcome to call me or make an appointment to ask questions in person. However, feel free to check the information below first!
Q: Hey DJ Maybeen, why do you call yourself "DJ Maybeen"?
A: It's actually a wordplay that alludes to my father's first name. He was Zambian
Q: Hey Maybeen, do you speak Polish?
A: I sure do! Polish is my mother tongue. I speak pretty good English (I graduated from English philology), and I'm also working on my Hungarian :).
Q: Hey Maybeen, what does it look like to work with you in preparation for our party?
A: Oh, it's a looks great :)! Before you make your final decision on a DJ, I highly recommend we meet—whether via video call or in person at a café. This is the perfect chance to get to know each other, feel the vibe, and discuss your vision for the event. Afterward, you can take 1–2 weeks to think it over, and if you decide to move forward, just let me know. I'll then send you a summary email covering what we've already agreed on and highlighting any remaining details to discuss. From there, we can continue via email—unless you'd prefer a phone call or another meeting. And don't worry, we can still make any necessary changes even on the day of the event!
Q: Hey Maybeen, can we send you a "must play" playlist?
A: Sure, I am fine with a list of 5-15 songs of your choice. However, I strongly advise against sending a full playlist for the entire party (there are several reasons I don’t accept that). That said, feel free to let me know which genres or bands you’re especially fond of.
Q: Hey Maybeen, do you play disco polo songs?
A: I do, but not very often. I see disco polo as a fun addition to spice up the party, but I think it should be used sparingly. That said, we can definitely have a disco polo-free event and it’ll still be great, or go all out with a disco polo-themed party (though I’d recommend against that)."
Q: Hey Maybeen, can we request songs during the party?
A: Absolutely! HOWEVER: first, sometimes I can’t fit the requested song into the current music set right away. Second, I may refuse to play a song if it’s too vulgar or not particularly suited for dancing.
Q: Hey Maybeen, do you have a fixed pricelist for your services?
A: No, I don’t! Feel free to call me or send an email with a brief description of the event (‘what, where, how big’), and I’ll get back to you with a quote."
Q: Hey Maybeen, are your services expensive?
A: Nah, they're not! But keep in mind, 1000 PLN for a wedding might not cut it—let's be realistic...
Q: Hey Maybeen, what will we do if you get COVID, the plague, malaria, etc., right before our event?
A: I've got it covered! If that happens, I’ll arrange for a stand-in. I have a network of freelance DJs and one of the largest DJ agencies in the area, so at least one of them will be available to substitute for me. You won’t be left in the lurch.
Q: Hey Maybeen, what equipment do you use?
A: The heart of my setup consists of two Numark NDX 400 players. My sound system features Audiophony Atom 15 speakers (2 x 400W RMS), a subwoofer, and a mixer from Behringer. For lighting, I use 4 LED PAR spotlights, 2 x 60W light heads, as well as derby and ADJ Revo 2 effects. I also have a vintage/boho lighting solution with retro lamps that provide warm and soft light. You can check out both options here. Additionally, I have a smoke generator, plenty of cables, animation gadgets, and even some wigs! It takes me over 3 hours to set everything up for the party, which shows there’s a lot of gear to manage.
